100th Day of School Celebration in Speech Therapy!

Over at Speak Listen Play, we are busy gearing up for the 100th day of school! This year, I tried something new with my Kindergarteners. I wanted to change up our homework routine and celebrate 100 days of learning. I couldn't resist this cute packet from Speech Peeps: Articulation Challenge! I had 22 of the 42 Kindergarteners participate and complete this challange!!!

The students were give a list of 100 words containing their sound in all word positions (initial, medial, and final) and asked to say them using their best speech with someone at home. They were given 2 weeks to complete this challenge! (If you do use these word lists, be sure to attach a parent letter to the word list explaining the challenge. I would be happy to email you the letter I made - just email me and ask :).

Students who completed the challenge earned a ribbon to be displayed outside the speech room and earned a prize on the 100th day of school. With Parent-Teacher conferences coming up, this is a great way to show parents what we practice in the speech room!

Additionally, because there will be an increase in traffic in the school hallways with upcoming Parent-Teacher conferences, next to the Articulation Challenge display, I like to display some informational items: Speech Sound Development Chart, a reminder about practicing speech at home, and Process of Articulation Therapy.

Do you do anything special for the 100th day of school? We would love to hear your ideas!!

  1. This is AWESOME! I like your bulletin board even more than the one I made! I especially love how you place informational items next to it for parents. I would love to see the parent letter you created. Do you think you could email it to me? nrallison@gmail.com
